Ladder & Stepladder user course

Accredited by the Ladder association this 4 hour course is for anyone who uses ladders or stepladders as part of their work. It covers how to use, handle and store equipment safely, and gives an understanding of applicable law, and potential hazards for the user. It consists of a practical and theory session both assessed to LA standard. Successful candidates will receive a ladder user card issued by the association which is recognised throughout the UK.


Ladder & Stepladder Inspection course

The inspection course is aimed at those responsible for thorough inspection and maintaining of ladders or stepladders. Using our manufacturer’s knowledge, delegates learn practical techniques, legal duties and documentary requirements. Again, with practical and theory accredited, assessed and card validated by the Ladder Association.



Everyday is a learning day.

Course Title Ladder & Stepladders for Users Duration Minimum of 4 hours Who will benefit from this course? Those who frequently use ladders & stepladders in the course of their daily duties Learning Objectives Delegates will be competent to:
  • Assess and determine when it’s appropriate to use a ladder or stepladder
  • Correctly locate and safely use ladders & stepladders
  • They will have an understanding of:
  • What they need to know about the law and standards relating to ladders & stepladders
  • Hazards in the use of ladders & stepladders
  • Storage & handling of ladders & stepladders
Method The course is planned to run over a minimum or 4 hours

Training Activity

  • Slide led – trainer providing information and asking questions
  • An individual questionnaire on safe and effective use of Ladders & Stepladders

Assessment Process
There are assessment activities:

  1. Multiple Choice Questions
  2. Ladder & Stepladders fault finding
  3. Carrying, positioning & ladders and stepladders

AwardA Ladder Association certificate and LadderCard will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical assessment sessions at the level they attend the course which has a five year validity period
Literacy, fitness & HealthDelegates must be numerate, literate and have a good command of English. They should be fit and capable of lifting, carrying ladders stepladders

  • Record finding & recommend action to be taken if faults are found

  • Accurately record details of ladders & stepladders

They will have an understanding of:

  • What they need to know about the law and standards relating to ladders & stepladders

  • Storage & handling of ladders & stepladders

Method The course is planned to run over a minimum or 4 hours

Training Activity

  • Slide led – trainer providing information and asking questions

  • A group exercise on inspections & hazard analysis

  • An individual questionnaire on inspection of Ladders & Stepladders
